Night of Stars ELA
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to share an upcoming lesson in our English Language Arts class that
combines art, scripture, and creative expression. The lesson is inspired by Vincent van
Gogh's famous painting, The Starry Night, and will encourage students to explore the
beauty of the natural world through both visual art and written reflection.
During this lesson, students will:
• Analyze The Starry Night, discussing its artistic elements and the emotions it evokes.
• Reflect on the scripture from Psalm 19:1: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies
proclaim the work of his hands."
• Write a brief reflection connecting the painting and scripture, focusing on descriptive
language and personal interpretation.
• Create their own watercolor paintings inspired by the themes of wonder, creation, and
divine beauty.
This activity is designed to deepen students' appreciation for art, develop their writing
skills, and encourage personal and spiritual reflection. It also provides a creative and
hands-on learning experience.
We believe that integrating art and scripture in this way allows students to connect more
deeply with both their faith and their learning. We encourage you to ask your child about
their experience with this lesson and perhaps even view their artwork together.
If you have any questions or would like to know more about the lesson, please feel free to
contact me.
Thank you for your continued support in your child's education.
